Past Playlists and sample mixes

I don’t just “play” music at your event. Technology has advanced so dramatically that you and I can simply create and play playlists from our mobile phones, and anyone can compile a playlist and push play. You hire a DJ when you want someone who can expertly segue from song to song– beat-matching is the technical term– and keep a smooth flow of music playing.

A great DJ should also be able to read the crowd, and know what song to play next. One of the qualities that distinguishes me as an artist and expert in my field is the deep well of experience I possess in blending different genres and creating effective sets in real-time as I adapt to the vibes and interests of your guests, all while injecting your unique musical tastes into the mix.

Since it’s not easy to provide an in-person demonstration of my mixing skills, I’ve assembled a large collection of mixtapes, playlists and favorite songs to help you get a feel for what I have done, or can do at your event. Please keep in mind that the music I play at your event will be different from what you hear there, so try to focus more on the technical skills on display, and less on the song selection.

Rest assured, you will have as much say in the music I play as you want. I’ll play your requests, and tailor my set to your taste, and give you as much, or as little, control over the songs played as you want. The resources below simply serve as a window into my industry over the years, and don’t represent what I’ll play at your celebration.

Some people ask me what equipment I use. Normally I bring a controller, which is a modern device that replicates turntables, and allows me to mix digital files as if they were vinyl records. However, I still have actual turntables and real records, and if you prefer that aesthetic, I can bring those to your party. You can read more about that on the turntable events page.
